Tri-City Candle Lighters Seek Ghost House Volunteers

The sign-up social on Saturday at the Chadbourne Carriage House in Fremont is for adults. Sign-ups for students begin next month.

FREMONT, CA — Candle Lighters, a Tri-City nonprofit, is hosting a "Volunteer Social" Saturday in Fremont looking for Halloween-loving locals keen on participating in this year's Ghost House.

The session is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Chadbourne Carriage House, 39169 Fremont Blvd. The Aug. 20 meeting is for adults. Student volunteer sign-ups will begin in September, organizers said.

Candle Lighters have operated the fall tradition since 1969. The family-oriented "haunt" — complete with games and food booths — is held at the carriage house and typically runs the the last two weeks of October

"We’re looking for adult volunteers to help us build, paint, work in game booths, transform into family-friendly witches and warlocks and much more," the group said.

This year's theme is "Witches Through Time," according to the organization.
