Verdict In Fremont Fast Food Shooting Case
The defendant fired multiple rounds into another vehicle.

FREMONT, CA — A man who was charged with three counts of attempted murder for allegedly firing multiple shots at an occupied car following an argument in the drive-thru lane of a fast-food restaurant in Fremont last year was only convicted of lesser charges on Tuesday.
Jurors who only deliberated for a day acquitted Allan Hsu, a 28-year-old Fremont man, of attempted murder charges for the shooting in the parking lot of the McDonald's restaurant in the 3900 block of Decoto Road at about 2:45 a.m. on March 30, 2018, and only convicted him of shooting at an inhabited dwelling and assault with a firearm.
Fremont police said the people who were shot at told officers they had been in the restaurant's drive-thru lane when they became involved in a verbal disagreement with the man in the car behind them, who was later identified as Hsu.

Police said Hsu left the property so the victims got their food and parked in the lot to eat it but Hsu returned in his vehicle about five minutes later and fired several rounds, hitting their vehicle.
However, the people in the car weren't injured.

Police said that later that day they traced Hsu's vehicle to Fremont's Cabrillo neighborhood and a SWAT Team was called to that location because he was believed to be armed.
Hsu was then seen leaving his residence and was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
Officers who served a search warrant on Hsu's residence found several firearms and ammunition inside, police said.
Hsu testified last Friday that he left the McDonald's property after the initial confrontation because "I thought I would be vulnerable waiting in my vehicle."
Hsu said he thought "perhaps they are going around to the other side to ambush me."
Hsu said, "I decided something fishy would happen because they (the people in the other car) weren't getting food" initially.
Alameda County Superior Court Judge Thomas Reardon is scheduled to sentence Hsu on May 17.
