FREMONT, CA — The County of Alameda conducts a homeless count once every two years to retain and improve Alameda County’s funding for homeless services and meet federal data reporting requirements. It also increases community understanding of homelessness, and informs strategic, program, and policy planning.
The next biennial county-wide homeless count will take place on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Once again, the City of Fremont will lead the coordination effort in the South County and is looking for volunteers to participate in this important event. Volunteers will work alongside formerly or currently homeless guides to count the number of homeless individuals in the South County.
Preliminary details for the homeless count include the following: It takes place in the early morning from approximately 5 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 within the South County limits. Volunteers will receive specific assignments the day of the count.
