Woman Shot Tuesday Expected to Recover from Her Injuries

After the shooting, nearby Brier Elementary School and Glankler Early Learning Center were locked down for about 40 minutes as a precaution.

FREMONT, CA: A woman who was shot inside a home in Fremont on Tuesday morning is still hospitalized but is expected to recover from her injuries, police said today. The woman was shot inside a residence in the 4400 block of Inyo Court at about 9 a.m. Tuesday, Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques said. She was taken by paramedics to a hospital, where she is still recovering from her wounds, Bosques said. The male shooting suspect remains at large, according to Bosques.

“We have very little information at this point about what happened and we’re still trying to put the pieces together about what led up to this,” she said. Bosques said the initial indication is that the shooting might have been targeted because the suspect “came to that specific house, found the woman, shot her and fled.”

One reason the investigation has been slow so far is that the woman hasn’t been able to talk to police much because she’s still recovering from her injuries, Bosques said. After the shooting, nearby Brier Elementary School at 39201 Sundale Drive and the adjacent Glankler Early Learning Center at 39207 Sundale Drive were locked down for about 40 minutes as a precaution, police said.
