2 Arrested In Gilroy Home Invasion Robbery: Police

Breaking: A small child was inside when the robbery allegedly took place, police say.

GILROY, CA -- Two men were arrested late Friday night or early Saturday morning in Gilroy on suspicion of invading a home and robbing the victims, police said today.

Just before midnight Friday officers went to check out some alleged suspicious activity in the 7700 block of Curry Drive. Two male suspects were allegedly loading items from a home into a car parked in front of the home.

Police said one suspect, identified as 50-year-old Jon Kovacs, was detained inside the car.

Police said another male suspect, identified as James Hall, allegedly ran when police tried to speak with him and he was captured by a K-9.

Officers allege they found Hall with an empty gun holster and ammunition. Police also allege they found a gun along the path that Hall ran.

An investigation showed that Kovacs was an estranged relative of a victim inside the home and that the suspects went into the home without being invited.

A small child was inside when the robbery took place, police allege.

The suspects allegedly ransacked the house and demanded money from the victim.

Neither victim was physically injured.

Kovacs was arrested on suspicion on robbery, burglary, criminal threats and conspiracy.

Hall was arrested on suspicion of the same offenses as well as resisting arrest and possessing a loaded gun. Hall allegedly had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.
