Grease is the Word

Positive thinking and hardwork pay off when you want to put on a show!

It was some months ago when my daughter's friend, Abigail Smith, started talking to my husband and I about how she really wanted to put on a production of the musical Grease. Abby is a senior at Christopher High School and she wanted to do this play her senior year.

We all got excited by her enthusiasm and my daughter Kyle was on board. Abby would think out loud about what she needed to do to get this started and I have to admit I was encouraging, but it seemed like a lot of hurdles to jump through and I thought the idea might fizzle.

When my daughter told me Abby wrote a letter to Don Christopher, asking for his help to produce this play and that she actually got his help, that's when I knew this was really going to happen! All along the way instead of giving up when things seemed daunting, these kids just figured out what they needed to do and they did it.

Abby, with the help of her cast, crew and a few parents, has kept a positive can-do attitude and put in lots of hard work to make this a quality production. Don't miss it!

Opening night is this Friday, May 11, at Gilroy High School theatre. The show will run for two weekends. Oh, and by the way, Thanks to Don Christoper, who is continually helping to make Gilroy a better place.

I have also been very busy getting prepared for my first outdoor show this season that will be at the Gilroy Assistance League's Impressions Home and Garden Tour this Friday and Saturday May 11 and 12.  I will have my art booth at the last house on the tour, and am excited because I've been using new canvas and materials and am ready to start my show season.

This is a really great event and you will be helping this awesome group to help others, while having fun at the same time.  For more info and tickets go to http://www.gilroyassistanceleague.org

I want to wish a happy Mother's day to all the moms out there—enjoy your special day!
