Stopping to Take a Look
Mother Nature is so good about showing me what I need to paint. She flashed this sky drama and I couldn't resist.

For me, one of the greatest joys of being an artist is that I see a painting everyday—pretty much everywhere I look.
While putting the groceries away, I see 10 little still-life scenes. Then, washing dishes, I see the lively bright colors of the cups and plates and the fun composition they create in the dish rack.
As I drive my daughter to each morning, I see the old barn and house on Day Road, with its soft greens, dusty yellow ochre colors and wispy sky—it looks so serene. Those colors remind me of how grateful I am to still have that old house and barn there.
And, at 7 a.m., we see some pretty amazing sun rises that are full of clouds, color and drama!
I’m also inspired by the way other artists see things. Each morning I peek at my online gallery at dailypaintworks.com, where I’m a member. I love to look at all the new paintings each day because it's like getting to visit a new art gallery each morning. If viewing art inspires you and makes your heart glad, you should check out this site.
You can also see some really inspiring art in person at the , which is currently hosting the works of young artists in their . I was blown away by how good the work is, and the ages of the artists. The exhibit runs through March 28.
And remember, this Saturday we have another exhibit showcasing talented youth in at the Wheeler Community Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s a blast for the kids, offering them a buffet of wonderfully fun art projects to sample.
I'll be there hosting the watercolor bookmark booth, along with my husband and daughter. Speaking of my daughter, she’s proud to be a part of the cast of "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown," which opens this Friday night at the Theater.
There’s so much art surrounding us, greeting us in so many unique forms, that we just need to stop every once in a while and take a look!
