Castro Fire Near Gilroy: Crews Stop Forward Spread Of Blaze
Breaking: The blaze remained 150 acres in size Monday morning, according to Cal Fire.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA -- The Castro Fire burning southwest of Gilroy in unincorporated Santa Clara County was 70-percent contained Monday morning, according to Cal Fire. Some 150 acres have been consumed in the brush fire that broke out Sunday off Castro Valley Road and Highway 101, officials say.
The fire in an agricultural area near Gavilan Collage was first reported at 4:07 p.m. Sunday and by about 6 p.m., it had burned 150 acres. However, by 9 p.m. crews were able to stop the forward spread and the fire was 50-percent contained.
The fire was not threatening any structures and no one has been injured, Cal Fire spokesman Scott McLean said Sunday night.

As of 9:45 a.m. Monday, the fire remained 150 acres in size, Cal Fire reported.
