City Council Preview: Motion to Open Recruitment for City Positions

An annual presentation by the Historic Heritage Committee, and a look at modifying the city's truck traffic routes are also on Monday's agenda.

Based off the looks of tonight's agenda, Monday's city council meeting may be a little shorter than usual.

The Historic Heritage Committee will give its annual presentation toward the beginning of the meeting, and a few other highlights are listed below.

Consent Calendar

  • Under measure B of the consent calendar, the city will motion to open the annual recruitment for board, committee and commission positions that will be open for the 2012 term. There will be nine positions open after Dec. 31, which is the date that marks the expiration of the current city terms. There is also one recent vacancy on the Public Art Committee staff. Recruitment would be open for a four-week period, starting Nov. 8 and continuing through Dec. 6, with interviews beginning Dec. 12 during the city council's special meeting. Public Hearings

  • The city council will motion to adopt the 2011 Comprehensive Fee Schedule, which includes updates of city service fees. City service fees were last updated in 2008, and the city has been working with firms since 2000 to update service fees to ensure their cost reflects their true value. If approved, the updated service fees would go into effect on Dec. 15. Detailed information can be found in the agenda packet, pages 42-99.

  • The city council is looking into eliminating some truck traffic routes, and is researching the need for continuous traffic routes for trucks through the center of the city connecting Leavesley Road to Tenth Street. At Monday's meeting they'll consider modifying the current city truck traffic routes by eliminating Murray Avenue, IOOF Avenue, Forest Street and Lewis Street.
