Coroner IDs Man Killed Saturday On Hwy 101 Near Morgan Hill

The man's truck struck a center divider and overturned.

A San Jose man was killed Saturday when his truck veered off of U.S. Highway 101 and crashed into a center divider in Morgan Hill, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The man was identified as 46-year-old Jerry Jones, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

At 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Jones was driving south on Highway 101 north of Burnett Avenue in a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche when for some reason his vehicle left the roadway, CHP Officer Herb Kellogg said.

The truck then slammed into the concrete center divider, overturned and landed back on its wheels in the center median, Kellogg said. Jones, the only person in the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene, Kellogg said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and investigators do not know if drugs or alcohol played a part, he said.
