Council Preview: Report Released on High-Speed Rail Visioning Project

The Gilroy City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Monday to get the scoop on the city's High-Speed Train Station Visioning Project.
The project team made up of city staff and consultants has met since May in a series of community workshops and work sessions to develop a vision for the station sites in Gilroy. The city will then take input from the visioning process and make recommendations to the California High-Speed Rail Authority.

In other business, the council will interview applicants for the open seats on city boards, commissions and committees.
There is one seat each on the Arts and Culture Commission, Bicycle Pedestrian Commission, Library Commission, Public Art Committee and Physically Challenged Board of Appeals. The Building Board of Appeals has four open seats, and the Planning Commission, Historic Heritage Committee, Housing Advisory Committee and Parks and Recreation Commission each have two open seats.

Also the council is expected to approve a $770,000 construction bid to Calstate Construction and an $86,000 management contract with Nova Partners Inc. for the San Ysidro Park Interim Youth Center. Both federal and city funds will pay for building remodeling, new concrete basketball courts and other improvements.
Councilman Peter Leroe-Munozas will be appointed as a board member to the Silicon Valley Regional lnteroperability Authority.
The council meeting will take place in City Council Chambers, 7351 Rosanna St. The next meeting on Dec. 19 has been canceled.
