COUNCIL PREVIEW: Revisiting the County Habitat Plan
The Gilroy City Council will motion to continue or discontinue their participation in the Santa Clara Valley Habitat plan at Monday's 6 p.m. meeting.
The Gilroy City Council will revisit, yet again, the Santa Clara Valley Habitat plan at Monday's 6 p.m. meeting, where they'll motion to continue or discontinue their participation.
The habitat plan, which includes the county, the cities of Gilroy, Morgan Hill and San Jose, as well as agencies like the Santa Clara Valley Water District and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, has been a controversial issue for years, with many officials saying it's too costly and broad to implement.
The plan was created to protect endangered species' habitat during construction by requiring developers to pay upfront fees to purchase land, with the cost being based on the species and habitat that would be disturbed.
