Crews Douse Fire That Consumed Pallets, Dairy Farm Barn IN Gilroy

No one was reported injured in the fire, which was fought by Cal Fire and members of the Gilroy and San Jose fire departments.

A fire that spread over a half-acre of pallets stored at a dairy farm and damaged a barn in a rural area east of Gilroy was contained within two hours this morning, a Cal Fire official said.

Cal Fire was notified at 5 a.m. about a fire burning the pallets and part of a barn at the dairy on Ferguson Road near Crews Road in unincorporated Santa Clara County north of state Route 152, according to Cal Fire Capt. David Hori.

Fire crews, who arrived to find the pallets burning and the barn partly involved in flames, put out the blaze at about 7 a.m., Hori said.

No one was reported injured in the fire, which was fought by Cal Fire and members of the Gilroy and San Jose fire departments, and the cause is being investigated, he said.

The fire prompted the temporary closure of Ferguson Road between highway 152 and Dunlap Avenue, Cal Fire officials said.
