Elizabeth Mercado Spices Up Her Look with a Bold Accessory
Gilroy Patch gets some fashion sense from Gilroy resident Elizabeth Mercado.
Gilroy resident Elizabeth Mercado tries to squeeze in shopping at the Gilroy Outlets during her break from Hugo Boss, where she works as a retail clerk, whenever she can. She just so happened to be on break during a recent Monday night, and caught Patch's attention as she was walking out of Famous Footwear with her fuzzy leopard-printed purse. Though she was dressed in dark colors, her spotted accessory gave her look a pop that was hard to miss.
Gilroy Patch: How would you describe your personal style?
Elizabeth Mercado: I wouldn’t say it’s really eclectic, but it depends on the day. Sometimes I’ll wear all black, and sometimes not. It’s kind of like music because I can be eclectic and have different styles. But I’m not always hitting the same note.

Patch: Where do you like to go shopping?

Patch: What draws you to shopping at thrift stores?
Mercado: They always have awesome stuff, and it’s cheap.
Patch: What are some of the best items you’ve found at thrift shops?
Mercado: I found this really awesome leopard jacket for $5.
Patch: Does your job influence what you wear?
Mercado: Well, I work at Hugo Boss, so I don’t dress up anymore. What I wear there is almost like a costume.
Patch: Are there any spring trends that you’re really looking forward to?
Mercado: Hats and peacock feathers.
