Friends of the Library Book Sale Saturday

About 10,000 items will be on sale at the Gilroy Library from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., with all proceeds benefiting library programs and services.

If you're on the hunt for your next summer read, Saturday's Friends of the Library Book Sale at the may hold a page-turner or two for your purchasing pleasure.

Around 10,000 items will be on sale, according to community librarian Lani Yoshimura, including novels, biographies and children’s' books in hardcover and paperback versions. Books on tape, videos, CDs and DVDs will also be up for grabs.

Items on sale are donated from the library and the Friends of the Library. All proceeds, Yoshimura said, go towards library programs and services.

Yoshimura expects a few hundred people to come out Saturday, hopefully turning the inaugural sale at the new library into a resounding success.

"This is the first Friends of the Library Book Sale since the old library closed in 2009," she said.

While Yoshimura wants Gilroyans of all ages to make it out Saturday, she also encourages anyone interested in joining the Friends of the Library to do so.

"The Friends are in the process of reorganizing and if they are able to recruit more volunteers, they will be able to open the book store on a more regular basis," she said. "For more information on how to join, please ask at the book sale."

The Friends of the Library Book Sale is Saturday, July 21, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Gilroy Library, located at 350 West Sixth Street.
