Get Out in Gilroy: Change Your Planner for Coffee With the Mayor

See a play, view some independent films, dabble in karaoke—but don't forget to reschedule for coffee with the mayor. These are just a few of your options as you Get Out in Gilroy this weekend.

Where/When: 105 John Wilson Way, Morgan Hill (Oakwood Country School). Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 7 p.m.

Why Go: This is a light-hearted look at the workplace with a play that has been entertaining theater-goers for many years and will do the same for you when you see this local production.

Why Go: This is a great opportunity not only to see some excellent short films and independent productions but to hear from local filmmakers. If film and movies are your thing, this is a great evening out for you.

Where/When: Gilroy Bowl, 7554 Monterey St., Thursday, Friday and Sunday, 9:30 p.m.

Why Go: This is a chance to combine two things you might enjoy doing in one setting—bowling and then karaoke. Gilroy Bowl has digital karaoke, making it easy for you and your friends to show you have what it takes.

Pricing:  Karaoke free; the rest depends on what you choose to spend.

Why Go: This is not your usual play, and it's one you should thoroughly enjoy. The folks at Pintello describe the play as "about some witches in the kitchen." The players get to prepare real food, call up "celebrity judges" for taste tests and find some shocking surprises along the way. You have to admit, it sounds like fun.

Why Go: Don't forget to change your calendars! This unique event has been rescheduled for next week. This is your chance to chat with the mayor in an informal setting and share your concerns about city issues and hear the mayor's perspective as well. And you get a free cup of coffee, too!
