Gilroy Hosting Gun Buyback Next Month

Police are offering $100 for handguns, rifles and shotguns, and $200 for assault weapons.

GILROY, CA — Two Santa Clara County police departments are partnering with the county's District Attorney's Office to sponsor a $50,000 gun buyback program on Dec. 14.

The Gilroy and Morgan Hill police departments invite people to anonymously trade in firearms for cash. The departments are offering $100 for handguns, rifles and shotguns, and $200 for assault weapons.

Firearms must be functional and the buyback limits five firearms per person. Guns collected and found to be lost or stolen will be returned to their legal owners, while all others will be destroyed.
