Gilroy Mass Shooting Victims Honored: Report
Tuesday marked the anniversary of the 2019 Gilroy Garlic Festival mass shooting in which three people were killed and 17 were injured.
GILROY, CA — A ceremony was held Tuesday honoring the victims of the mass shooting at the 2019 Gilroy Garlic Festival on the anniversary of the massacre, KSBW8reports.
Santino William Legan killed three people and injured 17 before being killed in a shootout with police.
The Gilroy Strong Resiliency Center held the ceremony to honor the lives of 13-year-old Keyla Salazar, 6-year-old Stephen Romero, and Trevor Irby, who was 25.

“This has been a nightmare,” said Katiuska Pimentel, Keyla Salazar’s aunt, according to the report.
“Even until this day we are still grieving. It has changed our lives forever. Our family will not be the same without Keyla.”

The shooting remains under investigation. An FBI probe is trying determine who, if anyone, Legan, 19, was in contact with leading up to shooting.
“It is sadly true that July 28, 2019, for many always will be earmarked for evil,” Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen said according to the report.
“Our answer is that a year later, we’re back and evil is not.”
