Gilroy, SJ Soccer Coach Arrested For Alleged Sex Assault Of Minor
The 27-year-old has ties to area soccer teams, including at South Valley Middle and Oak Grove High, along with driving for Lyft, police say.

MORGAN HILL, CA – A 27-year-old youth soccer coach in Gilroy and San Jose was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault of a minor at a Morgan Hill home, authorites said today.
Marcial Gonzalez Jr., a Morgan Hill resident, was taken into custody on allegations of sexual assaulting a child whom he had met through coaching, although the incident did not occur on school grounds, the Morgan Hill Police Department said.
Police said Gonzalez was employed since November 2017 as a youth soccer coach at Oak Grove High School in San Jose and is currently working as a South Valley Middle School soccer coach in Gilroy.

He previously worked as a Sentinels Soccer Club coach and as a junior varsity boys soccer coach at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill between October 2015 and February 2016, the department said.
He also drove as a local Lyft driver, police said.

The Morgan Hill Police Department is seeking any additional victims or witnesses due to the suspect's affiliation with youth soccer and asks anyone with information to call the station at 408-779-2101 or Detective Burdick at 669-253-4960.
