• Gilroy enacts detention center moratorium after ICE fears (sanjosespotlight.com) — Gilroy's City Council has unanimously approved a 45-day moratorium, extendable to two years, on new detention facilities within city limits in response to a proposed ICE facility just east of town. Officials say the pause lets staff craft permanent zoning rules, while residents and regional leaders continue legal and political efforts to block the project.

• Oakland Becomes Latest City In Bay Area To Enact Moratorium On New Data Centers (claycord.com) — Oakland has temporarily halted new data center approvals for 45 days while it studies how their heavy energy and water use, noise, and emissions should be regulated.
