Composer John Jesensky Draws Inspiration From Gilroy's Parks and Preserves

It is quite common for the creatively inclined to find inspiration wherever they happen to be, and John Jesensky is certainly among those aware of the need to consistently prepare for the often unpredictable moment in which inspiration suddenly strikes. It is for this reason that the composer and orchestrator carries a simple and portable recording device along with a small notebook, ensuring that his ideas are always preserved and can eventually be fully explored and developed.

Although inspiration might strike in the strangest of locales, Jesensky is quick to note that there are simply some places that reliably yield creative inspiration. A resident of the Los Angeles area, Jesensky has learned that the natural magnificence of the areas that surround Gilroy, California is such a potent source of inspiration that the lengthy northward trip is always more than worthwhile.

Jesensky cited a few places in and around the Gilroy area as being especially reliable in this regard, including Henry W. Coe State Park, Coyote Lake, and the Forest of Nisene Marks State Park. The composer has found it especially effective to visit the Gilroy area before heading west toward Santa Cruz and the Pacific Ocean to flesh out the seemingly endless array of ideas inspired by Gilroy’s natural beauty.
