Man Stabbed Sunday Night On Lewis Street In Gilroy

Police are looking for the suspect. The victim was hospitalized.

Gilroy police are looking for a 20-year-old man who allegedly stabbed a Gilroy resident Sunday night on Lewis Street.

Police were called at approximately 9 p.m. to the emergency room at St. Louise Regional Hospital for a report of a stabbing victim who was dropped off by a “private party,” police said.

The victim, a 39-year-old man, walked into the emergency room with one stab wound that was determined to be non-life threatening, police said. The man was later transported to a South Bay area trauma center for additional treatment.

The victim told police that the stabbing occurred on the the 400 block of Lewis, and officers went to the area but did not locate the suspect. No motive was determined.

Police said the incident was possible gang-related, and has assigned the case to the Anti-Crime Team for further investigation.
