Morgan Hill Man, 18, Arrested on Suspicion of Attempted Murder For Last Month's Shooting
The incident took place on Feb. 25 near Ciolino Avenue and Monterey Road in Morgan Hill.

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting last month in Morgan Hill that sent one man to the hospital, police said today.
Morgan Hill resident Emanuel Mendoza, 18, was arrested at about 11 p.m. Saturday without incident when he turned himself in at the Morgan Hill Police Department, according to police.
He was transported to the Santa Clara County Main Jail, police said. The shooting was reported on Feb. 25 at 6:19 p.m. in the area of Ciolino Avenue and Monterey Road, police said.

Police said the victim, who was taken to the hospital by a family member, got into a verbal altercation with two men, and one of the men pulled a gun and shot him.

Police said both suspects fled on foot after the shooting and when detectives identified Mendoza as the primary suspect, they found he had fled the area. Detectives questioned the other suspect and said he will not be facing criminal charges.
Police spokesman Corporal Scott Purvis said the victim’s injuries were not considered life threatening immediately after the shooting. The victim has since been released from the hospital and is recovering.
