Motorist Killed In Crash Near Outlets Was 19, From Gilroy

The Santa Clara County coroner released name of victim who died Wednesday.

A driver who died Wednesday in a solo car crash off of a road next to the Gilroy Premium Outlets in Gilroy was 19-year-old Jonathan Flores, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

Flores was a Gilroy resident, a medical examiner’s office employee said. First responders answered a call at 7:27 p.m. Wednesday about a car that had struck a light pole and tree in the 7900 block of Arroyo Circle in the southern section of the shopping mall, police said.

Emergency medical personnel attempted to give aid to Flores and remove him from the vehicle, but he died at the scene, according to police. Police are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash and whether drugs or alcohol may have been a factor, a police spokeswoman said today.
