ROTARY San Jose Provides $150,000 Support To Local Non-profits
Supporting Homeless Individuals and Families, Youth, Seniors and Veterans In Need During The Covid Pandemic
The Covid pandemic did not prevent The Rotary Club of San Jose Foundation (www.sjrotary.org) from supporting local non-profit agencies in the Bay Area in need of financial aide. Rotary Club of San Jose provided $150,000 during 2021 through its grant funding program to 18 local non-profit agencies.
“This is the largest allocation of funds we’ve had to distribute in many years,” said Clarence Stone, president of the Rotary Club of San Jose Foundation.
“Our goal is to support the community, especially now, during the Covid pandemic. These organizations need financial support to keep their much-needed programs active.

Our grant application cycle opens on July 1st each year and closes on October 1st. The Foundation Board of Trustees approved the funding at their November 2021 meeting.
We typically start seeing requests for reimbursement starting in January, and the organizations have until mid-June to spend the funds,” he added.

“Teens often find themselves with very few places to call their own. With the generous support of the Rotary Club of San Jose, we will be able to provide a safe, positive space for our teens to interact, learn and belong,” said Mark Washbush, Chief Operating Officer at Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley.
“In addition to the recent investment in camp programs for thousands of local families with generous grant funds, Rotary and Scouting in our area have been partners for literally over 100 years,” said Heather Lerner, Director of Development, Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council, Boy Scouts of America.
“Everywhere you look, our beautiful camps are the physical reminders of improvements made possible through Rotarians. It’s not just a grant, it’s a shared belief in the development of youth that become our civic leaders, she added
