As of February 20, 2020, the first confirmed case of novel coronavirus in Santa Clara County has fully recovered and has been released from isolation. He was never sick enough to be hospitalized. He isolated at home and was monitored by public health staff for the duration of his isolation. The second case remains in isolation.

The Santa Clara County Public Health Department continues to work closely with healthcare providers, hospitals, and its partners to address novel coronavirus. The department is taking action to protect and keep the public informed. While the illness started in China, people with the virus have been confirmed in several countries including the United States. Health authorities are learning more about how this virus spreads.
