Tequila, Rubber Duckies and Open Art Studios

Filipino-American seniors have their monthly meeting, a community resource fair, the rubber duckie race is on, a tequila tasting fundraiser and the Silicon Valley open art studios event are our suggestions to Get Out in Gilroy this weekend.

Where/When:Β  7371 Hanna St., Thursday, 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: The Gilroy Senior Center is home to many community clubs. The local Filipino American Club meets this Thursday at 12:30 p.m., its regular monthly meeting. The club is always open to new members who want to meet other localΒ  Filipino Seniors.

Where/When: , 7400 Monterey St., Thursday, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.Β 

Why Go: This is your chance to learn about the resources your community has to offer you.Β  There will also be live music and some free food from Lizarran as well. Americorps representatives will make a brief presentation about service opportunities and education awards.

Where/When: , 3050 Hecker Pass Rd., Saturday, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: Watch the rubber duckies descend Gilroy Falls and cross the finish line! And of course this means picking a favorite rubber duckie and cheering for it...not to mention the celebrity paddle boat racing! And enjoy the day in Gilroy Gardens.

Pricing: $30 ($20 direct donation for Leadership Gilroy, and $10 which can be applied to a Lotsa Card or Season Pass at Gilroy Gardens.)

Where/When: 140 5th St. Saturday, 3 p.m.

Why Go: This is the Latino Family Fund de Gilroy's fifth annual Tequila Tasting Fundraiser!Β  Come to the historic Willey House to learn about andΒ taste premium tequilas specially selected by our fund families.Β  BidΒ onΒ silent auction items; enjoy MexicanΒ appetizersΒ and music.Β  And don't worry if tequila isn't your thing. There will other specialty drinks, beer andΒ non-alcoholic aguas frescas available, too.

Where/When:Β  Various locations in Gilroy, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Campbell,Β  Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, San Jose and Saratoga.Β 

Why Go: This is your opportunity to see many artists at work in their studios and really explore the art and the artists of Silicon Valley. The artists are there to talk with you, answer your questions and give you some real insights into what they do and why they do it the way that they do it.
