Unhealthy Air Forecast In Gilroy, Santa Clara Valley
The air quality index forecast Saturday in Gilroy and Santa Clara Valley is 101.

SANTA CLARA VALLEY, CA — A "Spare the Air Alert" is in effect is Saturday, June 30, for the San Francisco Bay Area. Concentrations of ground-level ozone pollution are forecast to be unhealthy for sensitive groups, especially in the Santa Clara Valley and the East Bay, where the air quality index will be 101, according to Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
When there is an AQI of 101, active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease, such as asthma, should limit outdoor exertion, officials with the BAAQMD say.
Cities within the Santa Clara Valley reporting zone include Alum Rock, Alviso, Campbell, Coyote, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Morgan Hill, New Almaden, Redwood Estates, San Jose, San Martin, Santa Clara, Saratoga and Sunnyvale.

On days when an air alert is in effect, all Bay Area residents are asked to drive less in order to reduce smog in the region.
