My husband and myself along with our servant based church Resonate Grace of Monrovia knew that we needed to act quickly and be proactive in regards to assisting those directly affected by the Glendora Colby fire.
We as a community are not the only group of citizens that thought the same way. As you know the Palo family has been supported within their community with such love and grace. That is a great thing. We pray that the rest of the remaining homeowners have been supported by family and community as well. And, if not then we will make certain that we hear about it and act to help them in any way possible.
This article is mainly directed for those that simply do not have a support system, a safety net if you well. I for one have never known that feeling. Of waking up one morning and literally have your safety net taken away from you. What would that feel like? It would be quite frightening. One would feel completely alone and devastated.
Does it matter what type of person you are? What your background is? What you look like? Unfortunately it may. We as a society react to those that look and are familiar to us. We tend to react to the cutest of images. The sweet little animal that has no one. Well, that is exactly how someone without a safety net feels like. They feel that not one person is there for them in time of crises. Yet, when they see that there is, well then they are truly humble and filled with gratitude.
Please consider all those in need while feeling the urge to donate not only your monetary donations, yet your time and energy. It truly takes a village to help those in need in time of crises!
