Glendora Man And Woman Injured Following Azusa Car Chase

A car chase through Azusa across SGV left a man and woman injured

GLENDORA, CA — California Highway Patrol is investigating a car chase and subsequent crash that left two hospitalized on Saturday, officials said.

Two people were in custody Saturday following a chase that ended in a crash in Duarte, the Azuza police department said.

Azusa officers attempted to stop a car at just after 8 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Fifth Street and Dalton Avenue in Azusa for a traffic-related violation.

"The driver, identified by Azusa police as 36-year-old Dennis Ayon of Azusa, failed to stop and led officers on a pursuit from Azusa through Monrovia and ultimately into Duarte," police said.

The vehicle lost control and collided with several parked vehicles in the 2000 block of Mountain Avenue in Duarte.

Ayon and his female passenger, 30-year-old Darla Abriel of Glendora, suffered minor to moderate injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment. No one else was hurt.

Ayon was arrested on suspicion of felony drug possession and felony evading, police said. Abriel was arrested on outstanding warrants and misdemeanor drug charges, police said.
