Glendora Officials Discuss Strategic Plan Updates
Goal of the Strategic Plan is to create a cohesive community with a higher quality of life.
Officials discussed Oct. 22 progress on Glendora's Strategic Plan, set forth to improve quality of life in the city.
Every six months, officials create a set of objectives which are to be accomplished over that period of time.
This is the final report on this specific strategic plan. Officials will meet later in the week to review and update objectives for the next six-month period, said Chris Jeffers, Glendora city manager.
On April 10 of this year, officials last met to review the objectives that were put forth during the last six months (October 2012), during which 16 of the 18 objectives were accomplished, with three being revised or carried over.
The vision statement guiding officials is "By 2018, Glendora will be a cohesive community with a high quality of life for current and future generations."
Some of the objectives executed since April include:
Train the city's department directors in current use of social media to disseminate information to the community
Develop and report to the City Council a funding plan to address Glendora's water system vulnerabilities.
Develop a five-year vision plan for Public Works and the Library
Develop a marketing brochure to market the community and prospective development opportunities.
Officials have developed 18 new objectives to pursue in the next six months, to be completed by next April.
In October of 2010, city officials developed a three-year Strategic Plan that incorporated goals that they believed would progress the city forward. Objectives were developed so that they could be accomplished in a six-month period, at which time officials would meet again to review progress.
