Conservation Camp Inmate Escapee Back in Custody [UPDATE]

Wade Anthony Raffaniello, 50, was caught within 1.5 miles from the Julius Klein Conservation Camp near Azusa.

AZUSA, CA - A California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation inmate who walked away from a minimum-security facility near Azusa on Monday, has been apprehended.

Wade Anthony Raffaniello, 50, was caught within 1.5 miles of the Julius Klein Conservation Camp, according to Lt. Hector Morua of the CDCR.

He was reported missing at about 12:05 a.m. during a routine security check, Morua said.

Raffaniello will be returned to the custody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the case will be referred to the district attorney's office for possible prosecution, Morua said.

Raffaniello was serving a four-year sentence for transport and sales of controlled substance, and had been scheduled for release in April 2018.
