When was the last time you felt without hope?
Did without food? Or, basic daily needs?
This is why we’re hiking and fundraising to support Heart for Africa’s El Roi Baby (on Project Caanan) Home via the Summit for Hope. These babies deserve your help, to provide healthcare, nutrition and daily needs. We urge you to join us on the hike and give what you can.
Freely you have received, freely give.
(Matthew 10:8)

BACKGROUND:
The Summit for Hope began from a group of big-hearted, high-energy Heart for Africa volunteers. They designed this creative and exciting way to raise funds for Project Canaan in Swaziland. It started with the idea of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, East Africa, in 2009, and has grown to include climbing many peaks around the world. Imagine people reaching to some of the highest points on earth to bring HOPE to a country filled with orphans and vulnerable children...you can make a difference by hiking with us or donating to support the event or a hiker's fundraising goals.

HISTORY:
The 2011 and 2012 Summit 4 HOPE events were a tremendous success! Not only did each team raise a tremendous amount of awareness, but collectively they were able to raise over $200,000! It is amazing what can happen when groups band together under a common vision! We're back in 2013 with a new vigor and Team CA plans to blow last year's results out of the water!

When:
Each team will plan accordingly to arrive at the summit of Mt. Baldy between 11am and noon on June 29th. Each team will have their picture taken with a Heart for Africa flag at the summit.

Other Summit Locations Around the World (last year's hikes for ref):
  • Mt. Kenya (19,340’) in Moshi Tanzania, the tallest mountain in Africa
  • Taipai 101 (once the tallest building in the world (2,046 steps).
  • Mt. Hope - (3,727’) the highest point at Project Canaan
  • Mt. Plymouth (14,433’) in Colorado, the second tallest mountain in the lower 48
  • Mt. San Antonio (Mt. Baldy) (10,068') the highest point in Los Angeles County
  • Mt. Ka'ala (4,025') the tallest mountain in the Waianae range on Oahu
  • Mt. Mauna Kea (13,796’) the tallest mountain in Hawaii
  • Stone Mountain (1,686') the world's largest piece of exposed granite
  • Algonquin Park (1,466 square miles) the oldest provincial park in Canada

TAX DEDUCTIBLE
All funds raised by the SUMMIT 4 HOPE climb are tax deductible and will go directly towards Project Canaan, Swaziland.

OUR GOAL
While the entire SUMMIT 4 HOPE event attempts to raise $150,000, the Team California goal is to raise $50,000.
