Congratulations to Natalie Johnston for her main stage win at the state conference. Natalie was given the Best Supporting Actress Award for her role as Lily Garlund in our fall production of Twentieth Century. This fall Charter Oak won the Best in LA Award and Natalie's award. We can proudly wear the title of an Award Winning Department.
In December, our director Roger Graziani, was informed that the California Educational Theatre Association (CETA) judges liked our play! We entered our fall production into a competition named CETA. Each year between October and December they adjudicate fall productions throughout the Southern California region. Our production, Twentieth Century, received first place out of all the other schools which entered their plays in area 1, which is the toughest area in all of Southern California. We now have the honor of performing our entire play at the CETA conference in January; at that time, we will be competing for state awards. This is very exciting because it is like the CIF of drama.
Also, we sent Natalie Johnston, Natalie Jansen, Erik Minjares, Ariel Ruiz, Morgan Gilbertsen, and Megan Gonzalez, under the direction of Nick Ritchie, to the Rancho Cucamonga One Acts Festival in which they prepare a one act play to present at the festival (I Never Saw Another Butterfly) and they won 2nd place! Also, Natalie Johnston won Best Actress, and Natalie Jansen and Erik Minjares took home Outstanding Actor/Actress awards. Yay drama!
