Officials with the City's Water Conservation Program provided an update on their efforts and the efforts of citizens to reduce water usage.
The update was delivered at the Oct. 24 Water Commission Meeting.
The program received 139 applications for rebates, with two applications received for multi-family rebates and two for commercial usage. Officials approved over $19,980 in rebates, a 35 percent increase over this quarter last year, officials reported.
Regarding violations, 226 customers were issued green tags for exceeding acceptable limits. No fines were issued, however. Verbal warnings were issued to 32 customers.
Public outreach is an important component of the Program, officials said.
Water Conservation Officers conducted three outreach presentations with fifth graders during the beginning of the school year at Margaret B. Sellers Elementary School, officials said.
The Water Conservation Program is charged with enforcing a Glendora ordinance regarding the Stage I mandatory conservation measure, which requires users to reduce consumption by 10 percent compared to the same 12-month period the year prior.
