A 52-year-old woman was struck and killed by a motorist early Wednesday and the motorist is still outstanding.
The accident occurred in the nearby county area of Azusa at 5:30 a.m. The female victim was walking in the No. 1 lane of northbound Citrus Avenue just north of Laxford Road when the driver of an unknown type Honda vehicle struck her, said Rodrigo Jimenez of the California Highway Patrol.
The victim, identified by officials as 52-year-old Aguida Luna, of Azusa, received major injuries. She was transported by helicopter to County/USC where she was later pronounced dead, Jimenez said.
The suspect fled the scene in the Honda. Several pieces of vehicle debris were left in the road and were taken as evidence to help identify the type of vehicle driven, Jimenez said.
