This map shows a snapshot ofĀ where the "creative class" in town works. By "creative class," we mean people working inĀ management, business, science, and the arts. The census breaks these workers out separatelyĀ because they haveĀ some of the most important roles in the economy.
Data are from theĀ United States Census Bureau'sĀ 2011 American Community Survey.Ā (Note: Census.gov was "unavailable" at the time this article was published thanks to the federal government shutdown.)Ā Ā These values are an estimate for 2011 taking into account 60 months of collected data.
Using your cursor, you can hover over any census tract ā the geographic region defined by the U.S. Census āĀ and see the actualĀ number of creative class workersĀ in the box in the upper right hand corner of the map.
