2 Injured in Highway 1 Crash in San Mateo County
The accident was initially reported as involving a fatality.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA – UPDATE: MONDAY, FEB. 13, 6:25 p.m.
One person suffered major injuries and another suffered moderate injuries during a head-on collision that was initially reported as a fatal crash Friday night on state Highway 1 near Pescadero.
At about 9:20 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to a crash involving two vehicles on the highway, just north of the Santa Cruz County line.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital, according to CHP Officer Art Montiel.
The incident was initially reported as possibly fatal, Montiel said.

After an investigation, CHP officers determined one of the cars crossed into the other lane, causing the head-on crash.
Aside from the drivers, there were no additional passengers in either vehicle, according to Montiel.
CHP officials are continuing to investigate whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

One person died and another suffered major injuries Friday night in a collision on state Highway 1 south of Pescadero in unincorporated San Mateo County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported around 9:20 p.m. just north of the San Mateo County line.
At least two vehicles were involved. The crash blocked the highway in both directions.
The roadway was reported cleared at 12:49 a.m.
