Brews and Views welcomes FUSE Corps: a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that enables local government to more effectively address the biggest challenges facing urban communities. FUSE partners with civic leaders to identify pressing strategic challenges and then recruits entrepreneurial, mid-career professionals to serve in executive-level fellowships across local government.

In discussion with moderator Lenny Mendonca will be FUSE Corps COO Nancy Hogan, former Director of Presidential Personnel at the White House; Executive Fellows Gusti Clark, a seasoned workforce development strategist; Ben Matranga, an expert in investments and economic development initiatives in emerging markets; and Peter Sims, best-selling author, co-founder and managing director of The Silicon Guild, and founder of The BLK SHP (“black sheep”) Foundation. Following the discussion between Lenny Mendonca and the panelists above, there will be an opportunity for a Q&A with the audience.

Brews and Views welcomes Abdi Soltani, executive director of the ACLU of Northern California and a convener of the Blue Ribbon Commission with Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom on marijuana legalization in California. The Blue Ribbon Commission panel (leading legal, academic, law enforcement and policy experts) recently released a report on how legalization of marijuana can be carried out in Calif., including a discussion of the issues of youth, public safety and taxation and regulation, including lessons learned from alcohol and tobacco regulation. Following a discussion between Lenny Mendonca and Abdi Soltani about the legalization of marijuana, there will be an opportunity for a Q&A with the audience.
