Fire Contained Near Half Moon Bay, Evacuation Advisement Lifted
Cal Fire officials responded to the scene Monday.

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.: "The Higgins Canyon Fire is fully contained," SMC officials said via the county's emergency alert system. "At this time, the fire evacuation request has been rescinded. There will be no additional information alerts in regards to this incident."
UPDATE 3 p.m.: Cal Fire officials say that on-scene resources have stopped the forward spread of the fire, which is now estimated at five acres.

HALF MOON BAY, CA — San Mateo County fire officials are at the scene of a brush fire burning near Half Moon Bay on Monday which has prompted emergency officials to issue an "evacuation advisement" for the area. The blaze, dubbed the Higgins Fire, is burning off Higgins Canyon Road and was first reported just before 2 p.m., according to Cal Fire's San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit.
As of the latest information from the fire officials, an estimated three to four acres of grass and brush had burned in upper Higgins Canyon, between Highway 35 and Highway 1. Air and ground firefighting resources are at the scene.

"Cal-Fire and the Sheriff's Office are requesting an evacuation advisement of the residents in the 12000 block of Skyline Blvd, close to the cross street of Cypress Ridge Road," SMC officials said via the county's emergency alert system at 2:43 p.m. "Please use caution if driving in the area and avoid the area if possible to allow emergency personnel access to the roads without traffic congestion."
