Coastside Mother's Club Tours Pillar Point Harbor

Coastside moms with their babies and toddlers in tow get an exclusive tour of Pillar Point Harbor.

On Wednesday, May 15, moms and babes of the Coastside Mother's Club visited Pillar Point Harbor for a tour.

Coastside Mother's Club outings coordinator, Patty Lauritzen, makes arrangements for four to six outings per year, events that are attended by both mothers and children.

On this particular outing, Harbor Master Scott Grindy provided an opportunity for the families to meet both San Mateo County Harbor District staff and U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) staff in their wet suits, ready for rescue training.

"Both the weather and timing was great as the Harbor was about to start a surf training exercise effort with the USCG," said Grindy.

The children and their caregivers enjoyed the boat tours and were delighted to try out the siren and horns on the harbor patrol boats.

"San Mateo County Harbor District also has staff that work with schools on various water safety activities in regards to coastal surf water safety," said Grindy.

Upcoming Coastside Mother's Club events include:

Preschool Open House - 5/18/2013

Mother's Day Spa Day - 5/19/2013

Kids Outings: Phipps Ranch, Strawberry Picking - 5/19/2013

Working Moms Day Of Pizza - 5/30/2013

To attend, you must be a member. The membership period runs from March 1 to Febuary 28 of each year. To join, visit the Coastside Mother's Club website here.
