Coroner IDs Woman Found Dead on Montara State Beach

A passersby found the woman, sheriff's officials said.

A woman who was found dead Sunday at Montara State Beach in San Mateo County has been identified as 20-year-old San Francisco resident Rose De Alba, according to the San Mateo County coroner's office.

Deputies received a call at about noon Sunday from someone at the beach located off state Highway 1 about eight miles north of Half Moon Bay.

San Mateo County sheriff's spokesman Detective Salvador Zuno said it's not likely that De Alba's body was there for long before somebody discovered it because it's a fairly popular beach.

A passersby found De Alba, who was in street clothes, on some rocks at the foot of a cliff close to the north end of the beach, according to Zuno.

The cause of her death is still under investigation but there weren't any obvious signs of foul play, Zuno said.
