Deadly Half Moon Bay Hit-And-Run Suspect Flees Scene With Bike Lodged Under Vehicle: CHP
BREAKING: CHP officials say the suspect "...fled the scene with the bicycle still lodged under his vehicle."

HALF MOON BAY, CA — A Half Moon Bay man is under arrest after allegedly hitting a bicyclist and fleeing the scene with the bicycle still lodged under his vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol. The bicyclist died at the scene.
The deadly incident happened Saturday around 7 a.m. on Highway 1 south of Furtado Lane, according to CHP Officer Art Montiel. After getting word of a vehicle collision on the highway, emergency responders found a man on the right shoulder with debris suggesting he could have been riding a bicycle, Montiel said.
"It appears the bicyclist was riding northbound on SR-1, approaching Furtado Lane when the driver of the Ford failed to see the bicyclist ahead of him and collided with the bicycle," Montiel said. "The bicyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by fire department paramedics."

Evidence and debris led investigators to an address close to the collision where the suspect — Angel Gabriel Gongora, 29, of Half Moon Bay — was contacted and detained, Montiel said. Gongora was ultimately arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
An investigation revealed that Gongora hit the cyclist with a Ford SUV and "...fled the scene with the bicycle still lodged under his vehicle," Montiel said.
