The historic Point Montara Lighthouse will host a
month-long “Meditation and the Earth” series for the community, taught by Marshall White, a Dharma
Teacher at the Kwan Um School of Zen. The series explores the connection to the Earth in keeping with the Lighthouse’s commitment to a peaceful future.
The series comes as a free gift to the community from El Granada resident Noreen Cooper Heavlin, who won four meditation lessons as an auction item at the San Francisco Waldorf school and decided to share her winnings with the community in partnership with the Montara Point Lighthouse.
“We love when there's an opportunity for the HI-Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel to be a special location for a series like this that can bring together many different people for a common purpose," said Christopher Bauman, general manager at the Lighthouse. "It aligns well with our mission as a non-profit, to promote cultural understanding, sustainability and world peace.”
Originally established in 1875 as a fog signal station after several ships ran ashore in the late 1860s, this historic lighthouse is still an operating aid-to-navigation maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard.

October 2nd: The full impact of feeing held by the Earth beneath us
October 9th: Feeling our interconnection with the Earth
October 16th: Surrendering to the Earth
