Half Moon Bay Girl, 7, Raped By Man, 36: Police

BREAKING: Sheriff's officials say the man then tried to flee to Mexico.

HALF MOON BAY, CA — A man accused of raping a young girl in Half Moon Bay is behind bars Thursday, San Mateo County sheriff's officials said. The man is 36 and the alleged victim is just 7.

Alfonso Aguilar-Jaimes sexually assaulted the girl in Half Moon Bay on two different occasions, according to sheriff's Det. Rosemerry Blankswade. Thanks to a multi-agency effort, he was caught while allegedly trying to flee the country.

"After completing a thorough investigation, [the] San Jose Police Department, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, The U.S. Marshalls, and San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office worked together to apprehend and arrest the suspect as he was potentially trying to flee to Mexico," Blankswade said in a news release.

Aguilar-Jaimes was taken to the Redwood City jail, where bail was set at $2.75 million, according to booking records. He was booked on suspicion of sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child under 10 and oral copulation with a child under 10.
