Half Moon Bay Man Accused of Attempted Murder in Stabbing

Police say the man got into a fight with the victim in the area of Highway 92 and Main Street in Half Moon Bay.

HALF MOON BAY, CA- Deputies arrested a 25-year-old man last week in Half Moon Bay after he allegedly stabbed another man during a fight and then called the sheriff’s office asking to meet with deputies, officials said Tuesday.

On Thursday at about 6:30 p.m., a 21-year-old man and the suspect, identified as Half Moon Bay resident Victor Cauich-Dominguez, became involved in a physical altercation, according to sheriff’s officials.

During the fight, Cauich-Dominguez allegedly stabbed the victim in the torso with a sharp object and then fled on foot. A family member transported the victim to a hospital. The hospital then reported the incident to the sheriff’s office.

When deputies met with the victim, the victim identified the suspect as Cauich-Dominguez saying that he was an acquaintance, sheriff’s office spokesman Detective Sal Zuno said.

The following day, the sheriff’s office received a phone call from Cauich-Dominguez, who did not identify himself at the time, saying that he wanted to speak with a deputy about a fight, according to Zuno.

At around 2 p.m., deputies met with Cauich-Dominguez at a shopping center at 70 Cabrillo Highway N. Upon arrival, deputies were able to identify Cauich-Dominguez as the caller and the stabbing suspect, Zuno said.

Deputies then arrested Cauich-Dominguez on suspicion of attempted murder and booked him into the Maguire Correctional Facility.
