Major Fundraiser for Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay Set for March 21 at the IDES Hall: Blue Street Jazz Band Headlines

The Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay raises funds for charitable causes. Magic of the Coastside is its annual major fundraiser held on March 21

Magic of the Coastside is the major fundraising event for the Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay. Now in its fourth year, Magic will feature appetizers and no-host bar, dinner,”Bidding for Good” online and silent auction, and entertainment by the Blue Street Jazz Band. The event is casual, fun, and affordable for the Coastside community ($75/person) and will be held at the IDES Hall in downtown Half Moon Bay. Funds raised support the Club’s signature cause, the Coastside RotaCare Free Medical Clinic as well as micro credit, cleft palate repair, water and disaster relief projects.

At the event, the fourth annual Service Above Self Award will also be presented. Four Coastside residents, June Baxter, Carol Ferguson, Judy Macias, and Naomi Patridge, have been announced by the Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay as finalists for the 2015 Service Above Self Award for their outstanding contributions as volunteers on the San Mateo Coast. All four women will be presented, and the award recipient will be announced.

The Blue Street Jazz Band headlines this popular community event. 2015 marks the 32nd anniversary of the Blue Street Jazz Band, a Dixieland jazz band. One of the top traditional jazz bands on the West Coast circuit, the performance promises a night of high-spirited entertainment for attendees.

Spanish and Mediterranean-inspired passed appetizers from Seville Tapas begin at 5:30 followed by a sit down dinner at 6:30 featuring Caesar salad, garlic bread, marinated and grilled tri-tip , vegetarian paella, Coastside sautéed vegetables, and dessert. The award presentation begins at 7:30, followed by the Blue Street Jazz Band at 8:30. The auction bidding closes at 9 PM.

The Club’s signature local cause is RotaCare, the free medical clinic for the uninsured in Half Moon Bay and the surrounding Coastside communities.
