Man Swept Out to Sea Near Half Moon Bay, Search Underway

The coast guard has sent out a helicopter and two lifeboats, among other resources.

HALF MOON BAY, CA- The U.S. Coast Guard is continuing to search for a young male who disappeared in the waters off of Half Moon Bay Monday afternoon.

Lt. j.g. Steven Dross said multiple reports came in shortly before 2 p.m. about an individual who was last seen going under the surf near Dunes Beach.

Dross described the individual as a young male wearing board shorts. Dross was not able to confirm whether it was a juvenile or an adult.

As of 5 p.m., Dross said one helicopter, two lifeboats and various local law enforcement units were still searching for him. No further information was immediately available.
