Man's Body Found In Half Moon Bay, Murder Investigation Underway

HALF MOON BAY, CA — A man was found dead in the Half Moon Bay area early Wednesday and sheriff's homicide investigators have been sent to the scene, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office says. The victim, who has yet to be identified, was discovered around 1 a.m. in the parking lot of Whale Cove State Beach.
Information about the crime is limited at this time, but officials say the man was dead when he was found. He had injuries on his face and "upper part of his body," according to sheriff's Det. Sal Zuno.
"Investigators from our Forensics Lab and Coroner’s Office responded to the scene to assist," Zuno said in a press statement.

Video footage from the scene, posted by the sheriff's office and embedded above, shows a blood-stained portion of the gravel has been blocked off while the forensics team catalogs the evidence.
Zuno said that the incident is technically in the California State Parks' jurisdiction, but the sheriff's office is assisting with the investigation. There's currently no suspect information available.
