Power Restored In Half Moon Bay After Massive Outage

UPDATED: More than 10,000 customers were originally impacted by the outage, according to PG&E.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — More than 10,000 Pacific Gas & Electric customers were affected by an outage in the Half Moon Bay area on Tuesday, but the lights were back on by the afternoon, according to the company. However, more than 3,800 customers elsewhere in the Bay Area remained without power, according to the utility.

Crews restored power by 2:55 p.m. to all 10,262 customers affected by the Half Moon Bay-area outage, which appeared to be caused by storm-related equipment failure, PG&E officials said. The large outage started at 7:47 a.m.

As of 3 p.m., more than 2,300 customers were in the dark in the North Bay, while outagesaffected another 1,412 in the East Bay, 140 along the Peninsula and only two in San Francisco, according to PG&E.

The stormy weather came into the Bay Area on Monday and is expected to last through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
